Konica Minolta Business Solutions Asia Launches MGI JETvarnish 3D Web

Singapore | 17 January 2022

The launch of the MGI JETvarnish 3D Web, a machine touted as the World’s First 100% Digital Print Enhancement Press for Labels & Flexible Packaging, with its finishing on-demand, personalized 2D/3D dimensional textures, and variable embossed foiling applications will pave the way for converters and commercial printers to create unique opportunities for their customers.

The international adhesive label market is projected to rapidly grow to $41 Billion by 2023, while the accelerating flexible packaging market segment is forecasted to increase to $132 billion in 2022 (estimated by Markets and Markets Research).

With this projected growth, Konica Minolta is proud to announce the launch of MGI JETvarnish 3D Web, a print enhancement press, which enables label printers and flexible packaging producers the ability to go digital for Spot UV Coating and Embossed Hot Foiling without dies, screens or expensive tooling, on narrow webs from 100mm up to 420 mm/16.53” wide.

It features semi-rotary cutting — with or without a gap master — and slitting functions, as well as both corona treatment and flexo primer coating stations for maximum substrate diversity and print surface flexibility. The vast range of flexible packaging and label materials that can now be decorated with exciting visual and tactile enhancements includes plastic, synthetic, and paper-based stocks. These powerful substrate management tools are also complemented by an automatic rewinder utility and a self-cleaning inkjet system for optimizing the profitability of job production activities.

The MGI JETvarnish 3D Web also includes a revolutionary Artificial Intelligence SmartScanner (AIS), an intelligent and adaptive registration system without requiring operator intervention. The AIS automatically makes corrections and adjustments for any defects generated by the original conventional or digital printing run.

The MGI JETvarnish 3D Web enables printers precise application of both flat –- as thin as 7 microns (μm) — and tactile embossing effects.  With such precision, printers can now go the extra mile and open more doors for their customers to enhance their prints in new ways.
