Konica Minolta pushing boundaries with AccurioLabel 400 press launch

Singapore | 1 February 2023

Konica Minolta’s AccurioLabel 400 toner press is on track for first installations by early 2023 amid reports of market shifts that show 48% of converters are planning investments in new digital label presses within two years. Targeting mid to high-volume label converters, the AccurioLabel 400 will provide affordable top-quality digital printing.

With the AccurioLabel 400, market-leader Konica Minolta aims to capture a further significant share of a fast-growing sector that has an estimated 3,000-plus label converters in the mid and high-volume sectors.

Data from research analysts IDC shows the digital labels and packaging production printer market is expected to increase at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 13.1% in a five-year period to 2025[1]. IDC states[2], “The AccurioLabel 400 pushes the envelope on automation, speed, flexibility, and colour capabilities, enabling Konica Minolta to further penetrate the L&P market. The introduction of white cannot be overstated — the label converters in the mid to high-volume space will welcome the business opportunities brought by this colour addition.” The report adds that the new press “also underlines Konica Minolta’s commitment to innovation and to driving growth in the L&P market”.

Important developments of the new AccurioLabel 400 press include the ability to expand applications with white toner, improved productivity with superfast print speeds of up to 39.9 metres per minute, and further running cost reductions thanks to even more durable parts life, as well as enhanced print quality. It is available in 4- and 5-colour configurations.

A Word from Steel Li, General Manager of Professional Print Headquarters, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Asia

“Konica Minolta is accelerating its presence in the label, packaging and embellishment markets and this magnificent machine has tremendous productivity capabilities. Targeting mid-to-high volume label converters, commercial printers and large brand owners, the AccurioLabel 400 provides affordable, top-quality digital label printing,” said Steel Li. “The new press brings another level of opportunity to enable print transformation in mid- and high-volume production markets for forward-thinking label converters. The digitization of the label industry will continue to accelerate with double-digit predicted growth annually. Opportunity is everywhere. It just takes a spark to make it happen.

He added: “We are confident of capturing significant market share with the AccurioLabel 400 that will have an extremely competitive total cost of ownership.”

Important benefits of the Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 400 include:

  • Increased usability and automation thanks to Intelligent Quality Care and the IQ-520 module, which enables real time control of colour stability and colour registration, as well as automatic calibration, density adjustments and profile creation.
  • A print resolution of 1200 dpi (equivalent to 3600 dpi) by 2400 dpi, plus the Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 400 single-pass toner production press also prints on paper widths up to 330mm or 250mm.
  • Ease of use for operators with multiple touch panel monitors in three different areas of the label press eliminating the need for extensive user training.
